Project
Wind Turbine Hub & Blade Replacement
Description
The MAX Heavy Lift Team completed a hub replacement on a turbine and exchanged a blade on another wind turbine with the 1200t Liebherr LTM 11200-9.1 in regional South Australia.
MAX carried out all onsite lifting & transport with supply of the LTM11200-9.1, various smaller all terrain cranes, EWP, telehandler, lighting plants, transport including extendable blade trailer & experienced personnel including crane operators, riggers and supervision.
The rotor was installed at night. The Liebherr LTM 11200-9.1 was rigged in a T7YVEV2NZF configuration to complete the 53.6t lift with a 100m tip height. This configuration was selected due to the limited crane assembly area and increased efficiency at which the 1200t could be shifted onsite between turbines partially assembled.
Installation of the replacement blade was completed by the LTM11200-9.1 with T7 100m of main boom and 65t capacity nose boom. The 1200t crane was utilised throughout the blade exchange for personal access to the 85m high blade. A 250t Liebherr LTM1250-5.1 crane was also configured with 72m of main boom and a 26m fly jib.
