Project
Removal of Digester Lid, Bolivar.
Description
MAX Heavy Lift Team were engaged by Fulton Hogan to remove the roof structure from a digester tank to allow for refurbishment.
The 30.1 meter diameter roof structure weighed in at 116.1 tonnes with a total lift weight of 122.7 tonnes including the hook and lifting tackle.
After carrying out an initial feasibility study MAX concluded that their LR 1350/1 Liebherr crawler crane was the most suitable machine for the job. It was configured using a S2DB configuration with a 60m main boom, 27m Derrick & 195t Derrick Ballast for a maximum capacity of 146 tonnes at a 28 meter radius.
Extensive & detailed planning was undertaken to complete the critical lift – MAX provided Fulton Hogan with detailed mobilisation & assembly plans, detailed rigging plans, critical lift study and a safe work method statement.
Through detailed planning MAX & Fulton Hogan were able to overcome the many challenges that the site provided including underground services, limited access to the assembly/lifting area and not least being a working plant. Engineering was undertaken to verify the weight of the load, positioning of the lift points, monitoring of the sling loads and the construction of the crane pad.
MAX would like to thank its partners including Fulton Hogan and Liftquip Australia for making this project a success.
